The narrative centers on an expedition team that encounters an isolated group of ancient aborigines deep within an undeveloped jungle. During the encounter, all team members manage to escape except for Wilson and Bella, who are captured by the indigenous inhabitants. The aborigines intend to sacrifice Wilson and Bella to their deity and ancestral spirits. Their survival hinges on Wilson successfully passing the elder’s ancient trial, known as the Animals Trial. This trial requires avoiding attacks from jungle animals at specific times and within designated areas.

The trial features various environments, animals, and tools. Some trial zones impede the player's movements, adding strategic complexity. Each animal in the trial exhibits unique attack patterns, utilities, and movement speeds. Similarly, each tool serves different functions; when used appropriately against certain animals, they can trigger special effects that aid in survival.
